Local Governance and Citizen Participation

CCDS in partnership with the Civic Forum for Human Development(CFHD) and the Association of Rural District Councils(ARDC) are implementing the “Strengthening Social Accountability in Local Governance Systems of Zimbabwe Project”. The project is being implemented in Mashonaland West (Nyaminyami, Hurungwe and Sanyati) and Mashonaland East (Mutoko, Hwedza and Mudzi). The overall objective of the project is to promote sustainable and accountable governance in the management of public resources at local government level for effective service delivery.

The project is expected to result in:

-       -  Strengthened mechanisms and strategies for improved engagement between CSOs and Local governance institutions on service delivery

-       -  Mainstreaming of social accountability approaches by local government and CSOs

-       -  Increased evidence based dialogue between government and citizens

-       -  Documentation of effectiveness of social accountability in promoting effective Local Governance
